Rose's knee injury overshadows victory

By: Elliott Smith | Latest Basketball News | Sunday April 29 2012 10:13

A knee injury to reigning NBA MVP Derrick Rose has overshadowed his Chicago Bulls' 103-91 victory over Philadelphia in game one of their first round Eastern Conference playoff series.

Any joy for Chicago from seizing the initiative in the best-of-seven series was tempered by a fear that Rose, who missed 27 games this season with various injuries may be lost once more.

He took the injury with little more than a minute left and has been taken to hospital for an MRI scan.

Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau says players can get hurt at any time and you have to deal with it.

Rose scored 23 points and added nine rebounds and nine assists.
