The Nelson Giants have got their national basketball league playoff hopes back on track with a 90-87 victory over the league leading Bay Hawks in Nelson. Paora Winitana's 22 points wasn't enough for the Hawks, with the Giants sealing a narrow victory to move up to fifth on the ladder. Meanwhile, the Auckland Pirates remain in contention for top spot, accounting for the Southland Sharks 106-87, with Breakers Alex Pledger and Dillon Boucher suiting up for the first time this season. And The Manawatu Jets have thumped the Taranaki Mountain Airs 102-85 in New Plymouth. Photo: Paora Winitana of the Hawks during Hawks v Pirates earlier this year (Photosport) |
