NZ men's basketball short of trialists

By: Brenton Vannisselroy | Latest Basketball News | Wednesday June 13 2012 17:26

The New Zealand men's basketball team is running out of trialists.

Only 13 of the original 17 wider squad has started trialing on the North Shore today.

Morgan Natanahira and Jeremy Kench have been ruled out with injuries, while Americans Kevin Braswell and Marcel Jones are awaiting New Zealand citizenship.

Despite the growing list of absentees, Tall Blacks coach Nenad Vucinic says he hasn't asked assistant coach Paul Henare or Dillon Boucher to come out of retirement.

"Dillion is playing very well in the National League, but he has made his decision to retire."

Nenad Vucinic says he's expecting to learn today whether or not Braswell or Jones' citizenship applications have been successful.
