Gang members may be evicted

| Latest Wellington News | Friday May 4 2012 14:47

A flat of Newtown gang members could face eviction after allegedly intimidating other residents.

Housing New Zealand tenants at the Coromandel street flats allege a group of Black Power members are threatening them, forcing them from their homes.

There are reports of blood having been smeared in one person's house, another having their car smashed in, and gang members having wiped their noses on a young boy because he was wearing the wrong colour.

Regional tenancy services manager Jackie Pivac says the situation's become untenable and they're considering their options.

"If we isolate the behaviour to one tenant for example, we can put them on notice. We can deliver a 90 day notice, or we can move to evict."
