Teacher disarms intruder before police arrive

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Upper North Island News | Monday May 28 2012 18:33

Waikato Police are commending the actions of a teacher following an incident involving an imitation firearm at a secondary school in Paeroa.

A 14-year-old boy entered the grounds of Paeroa College armed with a plastic, spring loaded imitation pistol.

Police say it appears he went into a classroom with a bandanna over his face, pointed the imitation weapon at the student and shot him with the device three times about the head and face.

The male teacher intervened and the boy fired at him.

The teacher managed to restrain and disarm the boy then kept him there until police arrived.
