Plans for five star Dunedin hotel unveiled

By: Lesley Deverall | Lower South Island News | Friday May 11 2012 15:05

Plans for a five star, 28-storey luxury hotel for Dunedin's waterfront have been unveiled today.

The proposed hotel will be the tallest building in Dunedin.

The $100 million development is currently going through the resource consent process and is destined for completion by 2015.

Representative for the developer, Steve Rodgers, says Dunedin has been in desperate need of a five star hotel for decades and there currently isn't enough accommodation in the city to satisfy peak times such as big games at the Forsyth Barr Stadium.

He says it will provide an economic boost to the region, generating an increase in luxury visitors as well as providing a conference venue.
