Excessive legal action leads to court case of its own

By: Newstalk ZB staff | Lower North Island News | Monday May 7 2012 18:48

A Tararua man who's cost his local council almost $450,000 in court costs for matters deemed to be vexatious, is now facing his own legal battle in the High Court.

James Reid has brought more than 40 cases against the Tararua District Council since 2004.

The Council says Mr Reid's legal action has been excessive and that it wants it to end.

But Mr Reid says he has the right to hold the council to account and that he describes himself as a community advocate.

The hearing is expected to take one week.
