Armed Offenders Squad called out to Akaroa

| Latest Christchurch News | Sunday May 6 2012 16:12

The Armed Offenders Squad have been called into Akaroa, near Christchurch this afternoon, to hunt for an armed man.

This follows an incident in the township earlier today, where it's alleged the man threatened a woman and child with a knife.

Police spokesman Stephen Hill says officers and the Armed Offenders Squad are at the scene and are searching for the man.

He says the woman and child were not harmed during the incident.
