Christchurch's Mayor is excited about the just released vision for the rebuilt CBD.
The just released blueprint's revealed a smaller CBD, fringed by a green belt, a park along the Avon, a new covered Stadium, Convention Centre precinct, an Arts area around Victoria Square, a new Metro Sports Facility alongside Hagley Park and a new library in Cathedral Square.
Mayor Bob Parker says the consortium that put the blueprint together has clearly listened to thousands of ideas that were collected by the council-led Share an Idea campaign.
"Any government that doesn't listen would be a foolish government. And I think one of the great protections that we had as a community was that we got just a great response from people and you can't ignore that and it is great to see it all there in the plan."
Bob Parker says the plan is achievable and will attract investors to support the rebuild.
