Things to improve for Chch insurance battles

By: Jacob Brown | Latest Christchurch News | Friday June 1 2012 12:55

The Earthquake Recovery Minister believes things are on the improve when it comes to those Christchurch residents battling with their insurers.

Many of the city's red-zoned residents are still waiting to hear back from their insurance companies so they're able to make decisions on the future of their homes.

Gerry Brownlee says it's important to note insurance companies haven't abandoned customers since the beginning of the earthquakes.

"What we need is an expansion of people's book and slowly that risk profile is changing, you can see that with the number of consents we've had lodged just in the last two months, about $70 million so far in the commercial sector."
