Greens backing restrictions on heavy fresh water usage

| Latest Political News | Saturday May 19 2012 6:25

Recommendations advising restrictions on the use of water are getting the thumbs-up from the Green Party.

The Land and Water Forum's report on fresh water use recommends limits on water use and a ban on new water permits, once set limits are reached.

Green MP Eugenie Sage is all for it.

She says banning additional water takes once limits are reached would provide certainty for industry, the public, and recreational users.

Ms Sage says it would also help prevent costly and unnecessary litigation.
