5-year-old killed in crash

A five year-old girl has died in a motorbike accident on a farm near Nelson.

Police were called to Tapawera around 2.30 this afternoon.

The small 2-wheel motorbike had hit a farm fence on a property in the town.

The girl was seriously injured and died at the scene.

Police have spoken to witnesses on behalf of the coroner, but won't be releasing the child's name until tomorrow.
