It's been a long and moving night for New Zealanders in Gallipoli. Thousands of kiwis have gathered at Gallipoli to commemorate the 97th anniversary of the landing at Anzac Cove that gave rise to the Anzac spirit. Reporter Angela Kenealy was there and says this year's service wasn't as busy, as organisers gear up for the 100th anniversary, but it was still just as moving. "So everywhere you walk, everywhere you sit, everywhere that you're stepping it actually could be the tomb of someone, and you do get that feeling especially in the eerie silence in the middle of the night you can hear the waves lapping, just before dawn," Ms Kenealy says. Ms Kenealy says crowds were entertained overnight with war time documentaries and music. |
