Wanganui water restricted

By: Annabel Reid | Latest Emergency News | Sunday March 4 2012 16:14

Water restrictions remain in place for residents in Wanganui.

While power has now been restored to one water pump, two more are still out of action following yesterday's weather bomb.

Mayor Annette Main say it is essential people reduce their water usage and urges residents to not wash their cars or water the garden.

She says Powerco are working hard on the problem, and hope to have all three water pumps back up and running this evening.

People are also being advised not to swim in the Whanganui River for the next few days because of sewage overflow.
