Hurring's spending revealed in court

By: Natasha Burling | Latest Crime News | Wednesday May 16 2012 16:04

The spending of Kara Hurring before she left to go to Hong Kong has been revealed today in the Rotorua District Court.

She's on trial in Rotorua facing 30 charges of money laundering, theft and attempting to dishonestly use a document.

Hurring fled New Zealand in 2009 with her partner Leo Gao after Westpac unintentionally loaded a $10 million overdraft into their bank account.

Crown prosecutor Fletcher Pilditch went through the transactions of Gao's personal ASB account that Hurring had been using both before and after $500,000 was deposited into it.

Some were as small as just a few dollars but others were withdrawals of a $1000.
