Convicted murderer starts another sentence

| Latest Crime News | Monday April 23 2012 18:09

A Southland man previously convicted of murder 16-years-ago is starting another prison sentence tonight.

Nigel Johnstone was sentenced in the High Court at Invercargill late this afternoon to three and a half years in prison.

The sentence comes after Johnstone was found guilty of several charges involving violence.

In sentencing Justice Lester Chisholm told Johnstone that his pre sentence report made pretty dismal reading.

He says Johnstone still blames the victim and has little insight into the offending.

Nigel Johnstone was convicted of the murder Anton Sherlock in near Lumsden in 1996.
