Share |

By: Claire Turnbull | Monday, September 24, 2012

On today’s show Nutritionist Claire Turnbull and Danny Watson talked about school lunches.

For a fantastic healthy lunch box, try picking one option from each of these groups:

  • The MAIN event: Wholegrain bread/rolls/wrap with lean meat/fish/egg and salad OR frittata with veggies OR sushi OR pasta salad
  • Fruit: Grapes OR banana OR apple OR orange cut into wedges (or any fruit you like!)
  • Veggies: Carrot sticks OR cucumber sticks OR cherry tomatoes OR snow peas
  • Dairy: 2 slices of cheese OR low fat yoghurt (must use a chilly block in the lunch box)
  • Healthy Snack: Homemade banana bran muffin OR cereal bar OR handful of miniwheat or minibix cereal OR hard boiled egg
