Larry's Memo: August 17

| Friday, August 17, 2012 5:44 PM

Valerie Adams’ gold on the back of the positive drug test by the Belarusian cheat was great news.

The win was dodgy from the get go, specifically because of her remarkable improvement in the last month or so.

Nine weeks before the Olympics she was throwing around 19.5m and she gets to London and suddenly throws 21.5m. This was always odd. It didn't feel right. Not in the shot put.

You see in an event like that any gain is incremental. You don't just improve by a couple of metres overnight.

The subsequent reaction from Ostapchuk and the anti-doping guy from Belarus I think confirmed everything.

They're all corrupt.

THE BEAST

Despite the outrage from Wanganui I suspect the Beast of Blenheim will be dumped upon them.

There is no question that Corrections have got Stewart Murray Wilson under the tightest of conditions.

It is hard to see him getting the opportunity to re-offend but it would be a fool who would say it couldn't happen.

I see a number of outcomes:

1 - He breaches a condition and he's put back in prison.

2- He's targeted and gets done over.

3 - His cute lawyer actually gets his strict bail conditions relaxed. It’s a distinct possibility.

The fact is this guy is a mentally deranged out of control sexual predator and should be locked up indefinitely.

He should be in chains in a mental institution but we don't have them now. They let these nut cases loose out into the community.

LABOUR

There is a civil war going on within the Labour Party.

David Shearer has read his caucus the riot act but despite what Shearer says I think he knows his time is limited.

His opponents might be all smiles and waves, and they might say publicly what a great guy Shearer is and what a fantastic PM he will be, but in the background it’s quite a different story.

The leaks from that party are unbelievable.

GREEN PAPER

The Green Paper on vulnerable children focuses on mandatory reporting and information sharing.

Professionals like doctors and teachers would have to report child abuse to the authorities.

It’s hard to figure out why anybody would be against reporting child abuse but around 50 percent of submitters were against just that based on privacy grounds.

This is the PC era that NZ has fallen into.

No wonder we have a child abuse issue. We have the 'cuddle brigade' siding with the mongrels.

The upshot of all of this will be more programmes and more hand-outs to help vulnerable families which apparently will reduce child abuse.

Somehow, I don't think so.

OTHER MATTERS

The U.S authorities will have to provide evidence at the extradition hearing of Dotcom. The defense will be able to present its own evidence and challenge the FBI's - so what's the big deal? You would assume that the FBI does actually have some evidence.

Ecuador has granted asylum to the WikiLeaks scum bag Julian Assange. Ecuador has decided this because they hate the U.S. Be interesting to see how he's going to get the airport...

The rates debate. The message we get from the likes of the Auckland mayor is that they are just trying to make rates fair and equitable. Oh yes that's right, a socialist progressive tax is fair…sure it is…
