The Beast

A High Court judge in Wellington has dismissed the appeal for a judicial review of the decision to release Stewart Murray Wilson near Whanganui.

The sex offender's lawyer and the Wanganui District Council had both sought a review of Parole Board's decision.

Justice Young has encouraged Wilson's lawyer to go back to the Parole Board to discuss a reintegration plan with the community.

Hardly a surprise.

Whanganui’s always onto a hiding to nothing.

Wilson's lawyer Andrew McKenzie wanted Murray's strict release conditions, including satellite tracking, relaxed.

This was never going to happen.

The striking thing is that the way Wilson was covertly flown into Whanganui at the weekend, shows why he should be locked up.

Look at the resources and taxpayer money going into to keeping this guy from reoffending and preventing him becoming a target.

You could be forgiven for thinking Hannibal was being unleashed onto the community.

His release will likely cost a lot more than keeping him in prison.

 

Water

The Government and the Maori Party met over water rights today.

This comes after the Waitangi Tribunal decision that claims that the water issue has to be addressed before the IPO of Mighty River.

This doesn't stack up and the PM has confirmed that again this morning.

The ownership of the company, whether it’s the Government or shareholders, has no relevance.

It is true that the continued Maori grievance over water could dampen the price and spook potential investors. However that could be overblown.

After Mighty River reports a positive result, they should just get on with the IPO.

The water issues can be sorted later.

 

Far Left Rant

I had never heard of Barbara Sumner-Burstyn.

She is apparently a filmmaker. She gets taxpayer money to make her films.

Sumner-Burstyn, it turns out, is a Michael Moore-type anti-American fool. A stupid individual. A nasty piece of work.

The inflammatory comments she posted about fallen soldier Lance Corporal Jacinda Baker were vile, nasty, and despicable.

She wrote “Oh, so fallen soldier Jacinda Baker liked boxing and baking - did they forget she also liked invading countries we are not at war with, killing innocent people and had no moral compass”.

“She 100 per cent does not deserve our respect for her flawed choices. We are not at war. We are helping America invade another country for their oil. No more than that.

“Go to war expect to be killed. You can’t have it both ways - oh nice little career with the military and shock horror when you get blown up.”

Here's the thing:

This airhead Sumner-Burstyn has now received death threats. She's in hiding. Nobody condones this - but what did she expect?

She now says she is now sorry.

Let's be clear - she is not. She meant very word.

 

Sport

The All Blacks played pretty well against the Wallabies. 22-nil is convincing.

Fact is the Wallabies were never in the game. The gap is huge.

I thought that the real test for the All Blacks would come against the Springboks, but watching them draw with Argentina I'm not so sure.

We could be looking at a one-sided Rugby Championship.

 

The Black Caps did what we expected them to - capitulate to India.

It was a walk in the park for India, and ended in embarrassment for the Black Caps.

Whatever they do between now and Friday’s second test won't matter because the simple fact is: they are just not good enough.

If you can't play spin, you can't play spin. You just can't correct that in a few days. It’s impossible to do.

 

Lydia Ko wins the Canadian Open.

This is just an extraordinary achievement. This is a professional tournament. All the women pros were there. The kid is just 15.

The youngest to win the Canadian Open. The youngest to win an LPGA event.

The first amateur to win since 1969.

Last week she won the US Amateur and now the Canadian Open.

In Lydia Ko, I think we could be looking at a potential great in the game of golf.
