Breakneck speeds registered in leg eight

By: Nick Walker | Latest Yachting News | Friday June 15 2012 12:41

Breakneck speeds are being registered in leg eight of the Volvo Ocean Race, as the fleet rockets towards eastern France.

Overall leaders Groupama lead Telefonica by 12 nautical miles, with Camper Team New Zealand one nautical mile further back in third.

Camper navigator Will Oxley says it's phenomenal how fast they're going.

Oxley says it's the fastest they've gone in the entire race, covering 558 miles in the past 24 hours.

Boats are expected to arrive in Lorient tomorrow.
