Zheng Jie knocked out

Third seed Yanina Wickmayer has rounded out the day session on the opening day of the ASB Classic in Auckland with a 7-6, 6-2 win over Slovakian Magdalena Rybarikova.

Defending champion Zheng Jie has been knocked out in the first round by unseeded American Jamie Hampton.

The 22-year-old has won 7-5 6-1 and will face either kiwi Marina Erakovic or Canadian qualifier Stephanie Dubois in the second round.
