Djokovic set to begin Aus Open title defence

By: Elliott Smith | Latest Tennis News | Monday January 14 2013 10:18

Novak Djokovic feels ready to begin his assault on 2013.

The world tennis number one meets Paul-Henri Mathieu in the first round of the Australian Open today in Melbourne.

He says he's been invigorated by the time off.

"You get time to recover, regroup, recharge your batteries mentality, physically and get ready for the new season with four or five weeks of good practice and you come here fresh and motivated."

Kiwi Marina Erakovic meets Frenchwoman Alize Cornet, while Auckland winners Agnieszka Radwanska and David Ferrer are also in action.
