Defending champion Victoria Azarenka faces a difficult Australian Open quarter final test against a rejuvenated Svetlana Kuznetsova this afternoon.
Kuznetsova is currently ranked 75th in the world after spending the last half of 2012 recovering from a knee injury.
World number one Azarenka won both of their clashes last year but is weary of the two-time Grand Slam champion.
"She knows how to handle big stages, big tournaments, she's a Grand Slam champion as well, so it's definitely an exciting match for me to be in."
Play's just getting underway, while title favourite Serena Williams meets fellow American Sloane Stephens in the other quarter final.
Andy Murray will be favoured to beat unseeded Frenchman Jeremy Chardy in the men's quarters before second seed Roger Federer takes on Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the night match.
