Dutch medallist hailing Kiwi coach for success

By: Dale Budge | Other Sport News | Wednesday August 8 2012 15:53

Olympic board sailing gold medallist Dorian van Rijsselberge is hailing Kiwi coach Aaron McIntosh for his success at the London Games.

McIntosh, who won a bronze for New Zealand at the Sydney Games in 2000, has been working with the Dutchman since they met at the 2008 world champs in Auckland.

Van Rijsselberge says the meeting changed his career.

"In the beginning we were like 'who is this guy? He's a hardcore guy, and he's ripping it up. Okay well he's supposed to be an expert so let's give it a go' and we really enjoyed the training week with him and after that we got the opportunity to hire him."

Kiwi JP Tobin finished a disappointing seventh in the class.
