Another of the Kiwi athletes caught up in the administration issues that affected Valerie Adams is brushing it off as a simple error. Brent Newdick has recovered well from a difficult opening day, to finish 12th in the decathlon. Newdick, along with Adams wasn't registered for his event, but he says he wasn't even aware of the problem. "I only found out about it after I'd already started competing and it was just one of those things, administration, it was a mistake fixed and there was no problem for me." There are just two New Zealanders left to compete in athletics, with Stuart Farquhar in the javelin final, and Quentin Rew in the 50km walk. Photo: Getty Images |
