Gate, Archbold take next step in world cycling

By: Elliott Smith | Other Sport News | Monday October 22 2012 17:09

An important stepping stone for Kiwi cyclist Aaron Gate.

The London bronze medallist and fellow Olympian Shane Archbold have signed contracts to race with Belgian pro team An Post-Sean Kelly next year.

Gate says the idea is for him to progress up the ranks.

"The great thing with this team too is that because they're so highly ranked in the Europe tour rankings, they get good race starts where all the other pro teams are going to be watching, so I'll be under the eyes of a lot of the bigger team directors."

Gate says he might be the servant for the team early on until he finds his way.
