NHL cancels games up to Dec 30

Another 16 days of games have been axed from the NHL ice hockey season.

Games have been cancelled up until December 30, cutting another 104 games from the schedule.

The league and the players have been at an impasse for 86 days, with collective bargaining negotiations between the parties breaking off late last week.

The NHL and the players are trying to avoid the loss of a full season for the second time in eight years.
