By: Brenton Vannisselroy | Other Sport News | Monday May 21 2012 8:23

New Zealand's kayakers have left the opening world cup in Poznan empty-handed.

Lisa Carrington and Erin Taylor have produced the team's best result of the regatta, finishing fifth in the A final of the K2 500.

Steven Ferguson and Daryl Fitzgerald finished fourth in the A final of the men's K2 500, but it's a non-Olympic event.

New Zealand finished 24th in the overall standings in Poland.

The next world cup is in Germany this weekend.
