International Olympic Committee officials have warned Rio 2016 organisers that time is of the essence, following their fourth inspection of facilities. While the IOC says there has been solid progress since its last visit in June 2012, both the Olympic Parks and many supporting infrastructures will need to be delivered. The IOC says it's a task of great magnitude that lies ahead for the organisers. It says the year ahead will be a critical one for Rio 2016, with work needed to begin at a number of venues in order to meet the deadlines for test events ahead of the Games. Photo: Getty Images |
