Bevan Docherty's confident he won't have to change much as he makes the transition from triathlon to ironman. The 35-year-old's confirmed he will graduate to the longer distances from next year, starting with the Auckland half ironman in January, before his first full ironman in Taupo in March. He says his current regime stacks up well with the demands of ironman. "I actually slid into it quite nicely, the training that I've been doing with Mark Elliott over the years actually is pretty similar to what i need to do." Docherty says he will still compete in some triathlons when it fits in with his training schedule. Photo: Getty Images |
