Bond takes fond memories home

Hamish Bond will take more than just one fond memory home from the London Olympics.

Since winning gold in the men's pair, Bond's been seen around a number of venues cheering on New Zealandâ s hockey players, BMX riders, track and field athletes, and kayakers.

Bond says the great thing about rowing is that it's over early in the Olympics.

"You've got about 10 days just to enjoy the spectacle, the other sports, the life in the village, some free McDonald's, everything - it's all part of the event."

He says after some rest and reflection he'll start working out what his future holds, but he thinks it'll still be in rowing.

"You really have to be focused and excited about what you're setting out to achieve so not quite sure what that is at this stage and it will just take a little bit of time and a little bit of planning, a few discussions."

Bond says with a new velodrome to be built in Cambridge, he'll be keen to have a go at track cycling.
