Valerie Adams qualifies for shot put final

Valerie Adams has qualified for the final of the women's shot put, but it wasn't as easy as expected.

Adams was surprisingly short with her opening throw, but easily qualified with her second effort of 20.40 metres .

However, that was still 36 centimetres short of the first throw of her Belarussian rival Nadezhda Ostapchuk.
