| Other Sport News | Sunday May 6 2012 11:16

The International Sailing Federation has delivered a shock to the sport which comes as a double blow to New Zealand.

It's announced that windsurfing will be replaced with kite boarding in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

Kite boarding is still developing as a racing event, but it's been selected by the governing body to take medal places for both the men's and women's divisions in Rio.

New Zealand's had huge success in windsurfing with Barbara and Bruce Kendall three and two-time Olympic medalists, just two of a number of names who have been successful in the sport.
