Another bronze medal for New Zealand

By: Guy Heveldt | Other Sport News | Wednesday August 8 2012 5:25

Another bronze medal on the track for New Zealand, in nail-biting fashion.

Simon van Velthooven has finished third equal in the final of the men's Keirin, unable to be separated from Dutchman Teun Mulder.

Van Velthooven says he lunged for the line like there was no tomorrow.

"I knew Teun (Mulder) was underneath me and I couldn't believe it. It was a huge wait for that result but to come out with the Bronze it's just a huge result for all the hard work."

Sir Chris Hoy has won the race, his sixth Olympic career gold medal, to become Great Britain's most successful Olympian ever, overtaking rower Sir Steve Redgrave.

The men's team pursuit won bronze earlier in the track cycling meet.
