Kiwi runner wins San Diego half marathon

By: Brenton Vannisselroy | Other Sport News | Monday June 4 2012 12:00

New Zealand distance runner Kimberley Smith has won the San Diego Rock 'n' Roll half marathon.

Smith's won in a time of one hour, eight minutes and 37 seconds, seven minutes clear of her nearest rival.

She's now won seven of her last eight half marathons on US soil as she builds up to the Olympic marathon in early August.

Meanwhile, hurdler Andrea Miller has got her European campaign off to a promising start.

Miller's finished fifth in the final of an event in Switzerland in a time of 13.24 seconds.

She needs to shave a further four tenths of a second off to reach the Olympic qualifying standard.
