Kiwi kayaker hopes mum'll be just a spectator

| Other Sport News | Wednesday August 1 2012 17:12

New Zealand white water kayaker Mike Dawson is hoping to reduce his mum to a spectator at the London Olympics overnight.

Dawson will feature in the semifinals of the men's K1 canoe slalom, an event his mother Kay officiates in as a judge.

Kay penalised her son for touching a gate during the heats and Dawson says he doesn't want it to happen again.

All 15 semifinal competitors will get one run down the Lee Valley course, with the top 10 moving on to the final tomorrow morning.
