Putin fires top Russia Olympics official

To celebrate a year out from the Sochi Winter Olympics, Russian president Vladimir Putin has demanded a top official be fired for delays in construction to the ski jumping complex.

Putin has been monitor progress on a visit to the Black Sea resort.

Akmet Bilalov is a vice-president of the Russian Olympic Committee.

His company was building the ski jump and adjacent facilities.

Putin fumed when he heard the cost had soared from 1.2 billion rubles to 8 billion rubles and the project was behind schedule.
