Williams overwhelms Sharapova to win gold

By: Elliott Smith | Other Sport News | Sunday August 5 2012 2:36

Serena Williams is the queen of Wimbledon for the second time in a month.

She's humiliated Russia's Maria Sharapova 6-0, 6-1 in the final on centre court to add to her Wimbledon grand slam title of early July.

The decider lasted just an hour and three minutes as Williams swept through to add Olympic singles gold to her 14 slams.

She's previously won gold in 2000 and 2008 in doubles action with her sister Venus.
