Farquhar confident in medal hopes

By: Andy Rowe | Other Sport News | Sunday March 25 2012 17:53

He's just been given a spot in the New Zealand team and now Kiwi javelin thrower Stuart Farquhar is eyeing spot on the Olympic podium in London.

Farquhar has been named in the initial squad announcement by the NZOC, along with Valerie Adams, Nick Willis and Kim Smith.

He says he's got a really good chance to win a medal.

Farquhar says anyone could win a medal because the competition is so close.

Four other athletes have met the qualifying standard but are yet to be selected.

The final deadline for selection is July 8.
