Grant still harbours the Olympic dream

By: Radio Sport staff | Other Sport News | Wednesday May 23 2012 10:48

Veteran Kiwi rower Duncan Grant has scotched any talk of retirement after failing to qualify for the Olympics.

Grant and the rest of the lightweight four have narrowly missed out on London, finishing third at the last chance regatta in Lucerne.

At 31-years-old, Grant's Olympic dream appears to be over, having been crowned world champion in the non-Olympic lightweight single sculls.

But Grant insists her won't be quitting.

"We take it year by year, there's more guys back home vying for our seats so we've got to keep on top of it."

He still harbours the Olympic dream.

"I'm fully committed to doing this for a few more years yet."

The men's eight will also have to turn their attention to Rio after just failing to qualify for London.
