Patriots' Bolden cops four-game NFL doping ban

By: AAP | Other Sport News | Saturday November 10 2012 14:21

New England Patriots running back Brandon Bolden was suspended four games without pay by the National Football League on Friday for a violation of the league's performance-enhancing substances policy.

Bolden has 43 carries for 234 yards and two touchdowns and two catches for 11 yards for the Patriots this season.

The suspension takes effect immediately, meaning Bolden will miss Sunday's home game against Buffalo as well as a home game against Indianapolis and road games at the New York Jets and Miami.

The Patriots, coming off a bye week and a 45-7 romp at St. Louis the week before, are 5-3 and atop the American Conference East division by one game over Miami with Buffalo and the Jets two games adrift.

Bolden will be eligible to return to the active roster on December 3, the day after the Patriots visit Miami.
