Griffiths, Ward likely replacements

By: Brenton Vannisselroy | Latest Football News | Wednesday February 15 2012 13:01

Brent Griffiths and Nick Ward loom as the likely replacements for the Wellington Phoenix's suspended pair.

Captain Andrew Durante and vice-captain Tim Brown have to sit out this Saturday's A-League match against the top of the table Central Coast Mariners in Gosford.

Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert says they'll take an expanded squad across the Tasman for their two match road trip.

Herbert says Durante and Brown will still travel as they'll be available to play Sydney next week, while Griffiths and Ward will also be in the touring party.

Herbert says either Ben Sigmund or Chris Greenacre will wear the captain's armband against Central Coast.
