Croatia downs Ireland in emphatic fashion

Croatia's opened their Euro 2012 football campaign in emphatic fashion.

They've downed Ireland 3-1 in their Group C match in Poznan, Poland, with goals just before and just after halftime sealing the three competition points.

Ireland provided a glimpse of concern for the Croats, levelling terms in the first half in reply to Mario Mandzukic's early goal

Meanwhile Spain and Italy played out a 1-all draw.
