Nelsen's immediate All Whites future in doubt

By: Brenton Vannisselroy | Latest Football News | Tuesday May 15 2012 16:19

Ryan Nelsen's immediate All Whites future is in doubt.

The Tottenham defender has been selected in Ricki Herbert's squad for next month's Oceania Nations Cup.

But Herbert says they're considering resting Nelsen for the tournament with the Olympics around the corner.

"At some stage something needs to give and a bit of time to repair and do things right and if that's the right thing to do at the moment then certainly happy to do that."

Ricki Herbert says a decision on Nelsen's participation will be made in the next 24 hours.

English-based teenagers Cam Howieson and Tim Payne are the new caps in the squad, while Michael Boxall, Aaron Clapham, Rory Fallon and Glen Moss are all recalled.
