Pressure on for Olympic spots in women's football

By: Elliott Smith | Latest Football News | Sunday June 17 2012 11:10

The pressure for Olympic spots in the New Zealand women's football team accelerates this afternoon, with the first of two tests against China in Auckland.

Coach Tony Readings is yet to name his squad for the games, waiting until after the internationals against Australia later this month.

Despite the push for plane tickets to London, captain Rebecca Smith insists it's happy families within the squad.

"We have quite a unique environment in this team, because while it is competitive, we all get along really well and we're all supportive of each other and I think that you don't find that a lot in professional sport," she says.

Kick off in Mangere's at 2:30pm.
