World football's governing body plans to investigate a retired player's claim that spot fixing was rife in the English Premier League. Former Southampton defender Claus Lundekvam has told Norwegian television he and other players made money out of betting on minor events in a game such as the first throw-in. Lundekvam, who played in the EPL between 1996 and 2005, says deals were done with the opposing team's captain. In a statement, FIFA says it's monitoring the issue and has involved its chief investigator in England. |
