Wellington Phoenix striker Paul Ifill believes one his partners up front last A-League season will make a smooth transition into the coaching ranks.
Chris Greenacre is expected to be officially announced as a member of the Phoenix coaching staff this week, having played the last three seasons for the club.
Ifill refuses to believe Greenacre's lack of coaching experience will show.
"He's clearly going to be a good coach, he's a model professional, and I think you can't let that sort of experience go, I think you'd be stupid to. A lot of times you see it's hard to make that transition from player to coach but he seems to have handled it really, really easy.
"All the lads looked up to him anyway so it's not much different, he was always sort of the granddad of the squad anyway, now he's got a clipboard and a whistle. It's a good thing, I'm enjoying it so far and I think he's enjoying it so that's the main thing I suppose."
