ITM Cup: Southland downs Steamers for second win

Southland's registered its second win of the ITM Cup season.

The Stags have scored 20 unanswered points to beat Bay of Plenty 33-25 in Mt Maunganui.

Talemaitoga Tuapati, Elliot Dixon and Marty McKenzie scored tries for Southland, while Scott Eade kicked three conversions and four penalties.

Kimami Sitauti crossed for Bay of Plenty's only try, with Willie Ripia kicking a conversion and six penalties.

The Steamers had led 19-13 at halftime and 25-13 midway through the second-half.

Southland jump from last to third in the championship, while Bay of Plenty remain bottom of the premiership and in danger of relegation.
