Taranaki defeat King Country in shield match

By: Nick Walker | Latest Rugby News | Saturday July 28 2012 8:23

The Ranfurly Shield's already doing good things for Taranaki rugby after their first successful defence of the year.

Captain Willie Rickards is over the moon after their 69-16 victory over King Country in Inglewood.

"Over all mate I'm very happy, it's a beautiful day here, the mountains out, the fans are vocal and the boys are happy."

Taranaki put the Shield on the line again against Wanganui next week.
