Weepu may find his way off the bench

By: Elliott Smith | Latest Rugby News | Monday April 23 2012 11:46

Piri Weepu may be on his way back to the Blues starting line up.

The All Black halfback's found himself familiar with the bench in recent weeks of Super Rugby amidst fitness issues, with Alby Mathewson and Gareth Anscombe preferred to start at nine and ten.

But coach Pat Lam says Weepu is doing the right things to change his mind.

"Alby's now, the last three years, he's been the main halfback and it is about Piri putting the pressure on him and he applied a bit in the weekend so that comes into the selection this week."

Lam says despite the side being last on the Super Rugby ladder, they're focused on what they can fix and not the past.
